Why Salt Whistle Bay

Among the Caribbean's most beautiful beaches

Salt Whistle Bay is regularly named by travel editors among the finest beaches in the Caribbean, and one of the most beautiful anchorages in the world.

The perfect crescent

A near-perfect crescent of white sand, flanked by leaning palms and protected turquoise shallows: the postcard image of the Grenadines.

A legendary sailing anchorage

For generations of sailors, a night at anchor in Salt Whistle Bay has been the defining memory of a Grenadines passage.

How the day is made

Built with the island

Shaped with Mayreau

The day is co-designed with the island community, with paid local hosts, vendors, artists and boat operators at its centre. It should feel like Mayreau welcoming the sailing world, not a party imposed on the beach.

A moment of acknowledgement

A short opening moment recognises Hurricane Beryl's impact, the restoration of the beach and the island's resilience, before food, music, storytelling and hospitality carry the day.

Respect for Baliceaux

Nearby Baliceaux is a place of Garifuna remembrance and pilgrimage. It is not part of the festival. A separate, limited-space visit may be offered only with Garifuna cultural leadership and the relevant local approvals.

OPTIONAL ADD-ON . BY MOMENTS WITH MEL & N · LIMITED SPACE

A visit to Baliceaux

For guests wishing to learn more, a small-group visit to Baliceaux is being explored as a separate excursion. Baliceaux is a place of profound significance to Garifuna history and remembrance; any visit would be led by Garifuna cultural leadership and approached with care, not as part of the Happy Day Festival.

Spaces would be limited. This add-on is not included in festival admission and is subject to community agreement, local permissions, safe conditions and final arrangements. Timing and any cost will be shared only once confirmed; expressing interest is not a reservation.
